I. Pre-Installation Preparation
1. Inspect the quality of the steps to ensure there are no cracks, deformations, the anti-slip patterns are intact, and the galvanized/anti-corrosion coating is free of damage.
2. Clean the installation area on the manhole wall, removing slag, dust, and oil to ensure the contact surface is flat and firm.
3. Prepare tools: According to the fixing method, prepare wrenches, impact drills, cement mortar/anchoring agent, bolts, and other accessories.
4. Verify installation parameters to confirm that the vertical spacing and horizontal clear distance of the steps meet specification requirements.
II. Positioning and Layout
1. Determine the installation position of the first step, 200mm below the manhole cover, and mark it.
2. Mark all step installation points downward in accordance with the principles of vertical spacing ≤ 360mm, horizontal clear distance of 150mm, and staggered distribution.
3. Ensure that the steps on the same side are along a vertical line, and the steps on the left and right sides are symmetrically positioned for easy climbing.
III. Fixing and Installation
· Brickwork Manhole + Cast Iron Steps:
1. Embed the tail of the step into the brickwork joint at the marked position.
2. Fill the gap between the step and the brick joint with cement mortar, compact and smooth it to ensure firm bonding.
· Concrete Manhole + Expansion Bolt Fixing:
1. Drill holes at the marked points with an impact drill according to the size of the step mounting holes, ensuring the hole diameter matches the expansion bolts.
2. Clean the dust inside the holes, insert the expansion bolts, and tighten the nuts to expand and fix the bolts.
3. Slide the steps onto the bolts, add flat washers and spring washers, then tighten the nuts to ensure the steps are not loose.
· Steel-Plastic Steps:
1. Roughen the installation surface of the manhole wall to enhance bonding strength.
2. Apply a uniform layer of special anchoring agent or high-strength cement mortar, and press the steps onto the installation position.
3. Adjust the levelness and verticality of the steps, maintain a uniform bonding layer thickness, and let it cure to the specified strength.
IV. Acceptance and Finalization
1. After installation, shake the steps by hand to check for firmness, ensuring no looseness or wobbling.
2. Recheck that the step spacing and position comply with specifications, and that the anti-slip patterns face the climbing direction.
3. Clean construction debris inside the manhole and repair any damage or unevenness at the installation points on the manhole wall.
4. Put the manhole into use only after the bonding material and cement mortar are completely cured.
